Creamy Carbonara

Hold it...This carbonara recipe is not mine. I actually asked Hon of Honey's Home and Leisure for this  recipe because my twin kids like her carbonara a lot.

Ingredients:

400-500g penne / spaghetti (cook to "al dente")
3-4 tbsp butter
2 Cups chopped honeycured bacon (Purefoods)
1 small can sliced mushroom
2  tetra packs (250ml)  nestle cream
1 370ml Alaska Evaporada
1 tsp McCormick powdered garlic
1/2 tsp McCormick powdered white pepper
parmesan cheese
salt to taste
1 pc. egg yolk
parsley for garnishing

How to do it:

1. In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat, brown bacon, set aside.
2. Lower down the heat. In the same pan with melted butter, stir in sliced mushrooms, nestle cream, alaska evap.
3.  Season mixture with salt,  powdered garlic, white pepper & parmesan cheese.
4. Add in the beaten egg yolk and stir in the cooked penne, mix well.
5. Garnish with chopped parsley.

John's Chicken and Pork Barbeque

Chicken and Pork Barbeque best paired with Suka Pinakurat



Procedure:

In a mixing bowl, marinate the pork and chicken with the ketchup, soy sauce and pepper
Mix well and keep in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes  (turning occasionally).
Over live charcoals, barbeque the pork and chicken til each meat is cooked - turning every few minutes on each side and basting the leftover marinate on the barbeque.

DnD Tea Bar

Hitting Greenhills on a weekly basis allow me to try restaurants I've never dined before as I wait for my husband and children to finish their toy shopping. 

Last week, I tried DnD  Dimsum & Dumplings located at the second level of Virra Mall (near Ace Hardware), Greenhills, San Juan City.

What's nice about DnD is that it's not crowded. The area is very clean and the staff are fairly courteous.

Spicy Squid at P195.00 is my DnD favorite simply because I like it salty and spicy.

Felix's Cy Burger

Craving for wagyu burger brought Cielo and I at Felix in Greenbelt 5.  Named after Chef Florabel Co Yatco’s father, FELIX is a restaurant that caters Asian Continental cuisine. 


Had this Cy burger at 11:30am and I'm still full as of this writing. At P816 (VAT ans other taxes included)


Felix has big place that can accommodate up to 100. This is a good place for meeting friends over for lunch.


For finale, we settled for a decaffenaited coffee.

Cafe Jeepney

You haven't been in the Philippines if you haven't seen a jeepney as it sprawls the whole of this country.  To complete the experience once in the Philippines why not try to dine at Cafe Jeepney located at the Ground Level of InterContinental Manila in 1 Ayala Ave., Makati. they offer Filipino and International cuisine with specialties like pancit palabok and mango crêpe samurai

Riza and I went there on  Sunday so there weren't many diners. Usually, the manager said, during office days, we cannot dine here without prior reservation as they are full from Mondays to Fridays. So, if you're meeting a client or a friend on a weekday, make an advance call to secure seats at

Assorted parts, paintings and photos of the famous jeepney as well as the  horse that is the signature of Sarao (famous jeepney maker in the Philippines) is scattered within the walls and other parts of this cafe.

Buffet Lunch at Lola Marias

It's been four long years since the last time I saw my two most beloved guy friends. So when they asked to meet for lunch, I suggested to have lunch at Lola Maria, located at the Legend Villas, Pioneer St., Mandaluyong City.

At P650 per head, we had good food, good service and good talk reminiscing our happy times in Bayantel.

Yellow Cab Goodness

After Maizi's confirmation, we headed at Yellow Cab and had...ta-dah, PIZZA!

Among the 3 pasta we ordered, husband and I voted best for the Meatball spag, although there were just 2 meatmalls, the sauce made up for the lack of meatballs.




Jalapeno Tango was not spicy enough for us but crispiness is good enough to satisfy our love for chicken wings.
